This may sound like a professional bombarding phrase, but I wont get into any advance stuff here. I simply want you to consider all your gaming options before each shot, and not rush into the first opportunity the seems the best.

The first thing to understand is that you don’t have to put a ball in the hole to make a successful shot. Many players overlook the “safety” possibility. This is pretty self explanatory – it means you make a shot in order to entangle your opponent.
#1 Option
There are a couple of ways to make a good safety shot. One is to get the cue ball to a point it hasn’t got a direct path to your rival target balls. This is called “Snooker,” and it will force the player to use the cushion, bounce the white ball or make a “banana spin” shot.
Needless to say, this will make it much more difficult for your opponent to make a good shot. There is a good chance he or she will make a fault, too.
#2 Option
Another way to make a good safety shot is to pin the cue ball to one of the table cushions. It’s very hard to aim in that situation.
#3 Option
One more way is to send the white ball far away from the other player’s balls. The distance will harden his shot.
These are the basic ways to make a safety shot. Of course any combination of them will work great. There are a lot of other safety options, which you’ll learn to recognize and master with time.
I know it’s not as fun as putting your target ball in the hole, but if you want to take your gaming to the next level, you can’t afford to ignore this option. This skill is a bit harder to work on, but a real rewarding one.
Thinking ahead
In addition to the safety option, there is another strategy you should think of when playing. When you do go after a target ball in order to put it in the hole, Sometimes you’ll have more than one option to choose from.
Again, don’t immediately go for the shot that looks the easiest. Think about your next shot as well. Many times it’s better to go for a bit harder shot, if it will position the cue ball in a good place for the next one.

Healthy Hamstrings Will Improve Your Golf Game!
The game of golf can be like a meditative experience. The vast blue sky and uninterrupted greens and trees encourage a oneness with nature. And then there is the hushed silence and concentration required as the player executes their swing from start to finish. Unfortunately, one barrier to the strong and smooth follow-through of that swing is tight hamstrings. Just as in seated meditation, tight hamstrings will break one’s concentration!
Yoga exercises that stretch and strengthen muscles specifically improve the health of the shoulder, leg, core and arms. For now, let’s focus on the role of the hamstrings as applied to golf, particularly on hamstring flexibility.
Hamstrings
The primary work of the three muscles that comprise the hamstrings is to flex (bend) the knee, and extend the hip joint. The hamstrings, located in the back of the thigh, are also involved in internal as well as external rotation of the leg. Flexibility in the hamstrings will provide you improved range of motion in the hips. Therefore tightness in this area will limit your range of motion while executing all three phases of the golf swing: back, forward and follow-through.
Westerners spend an inordinate amount of our time sitting. As we eat meals, in school from first grade throughout school, driving or riding in cars, and most likely at work time-our primary posture is seated. Consequently our hamstrings are shortened and inactive in chairs. Try this: loop a rubber band around your thumb and first fingers. Picture the rubber band as your hamstrings. When those fingers are bent (like our knees), the rubber band is lax and limp. When you straighten the fingers, the rubberband is stretched, a position our hamstrings do not typically experience.
The upper hamstrings are attached to the bottom of our pelvic bones, aptly referred to as our “sits” bones. As mentioned earlier, short, inflexible hamstrings can also lead to hip pain, and through a chain reaction in our bodies, contribute to lower back pain, another common issue for golfers (well, almost everyone!). The strong and flexible action of your hips and lower back are an essential ingredient for integrated action of the golf swing. Keying in on hamstring flexibility will improve that action.
Achieving Hamstring Flexibility
Steady practice of simple hamstring stretches to increase flexibility is a must for most golfers. It is always preferred to stretch every day, for 5-10 minutes, than to expect results as a “weekend warrior”.
Reclined leg stretches are a tried and true method of opening the hamstrings as well as increasing strength and flexibility of the hips. A yoga strap, or even a men’s necktie can be used to increase the sensation of stretch.
The famous downward facing dog pose can be practiced with hands on the floor or the wall. Down dog stretches the hamstrings and also provides a wonderful release in the spine. You can use a beginners yoga DVD to learn simple poses like this to increase your flexibility. Self massage will also provide a release of lingering tightness in the back or hamstrings.

5 Tips For Basketball Coaches
It can be difficult at times to keep your youth basketball teams focused. People tend to get angry and frustrated and want to yell at the kids but have to remember that they are just kids and they just want to have fun. Whether you are coaching recreational youth basketball or a competitive AAU basketball program with these simple tips you can help your team stay focused, motivated and playing as hard as they can all the time.
1. Care about your players off the basketball court. One of the most effective tools for motivating your players to work hard for you, and for their team, is to let them know that you care about them as human beings. Show them tough love. Don’t give them too much criticism or praise or else when you do it will go in one ear and out the other and never be valid.
2. Offer verbal rewards. Positive enforcements cause young players to work hard to get your approval- No matter how complicated the concept you are focusing on is, make sure to always let your players know when they do something worthy of a compliment.
3. Add competition to your practice. A great way to mix things up and keep players working hard is to add competition to your drills and practice agenda.
4. Set a Team Goals on the first day of practice. Establishing your team goals from the day one is the best way to get your team focused on the task at hand, and also let your players know what kind of coach you’re going to be.
5. Set the right type of goals for your team. Make sure that the goals you set for your team are achievable. Don’t set goals for the statistics, like scoring the most points and even winning games. Players already want those things without setting goals. Players should focus on team goals and never on individual stats. Individual goals can be chosen according to a players specific skill set or a teams ability to work hard to reach an obtainable record.
Know that what motivates some players will not motivate others. It is important to know your players so that you know how they will respond individually and as a team to motivational tactics. In the end, if you’re involved, excited, and willing to take the time to keep practices interesting, then your team will respond by winning as a team and having fun while working hard!
Volleyball Equipment
Volleyball Equipment starts off with the basic; a net, ball and some shoes. From there, the equipment can become more and more complex, but it really depends on how much you have to spend and how often you play volleyball in the first place. There are many objects which are used to train up a volleyball player, but are not necessarily needed as such. Having the ability to play on a court is the most important part of equipment, whether this is a spot on the beach where you can set a net up, or a court which has the right poles to be set up. Indoor Volleyball usually has steel poles which can be adjusted according to the height of the net that you are playing on. A net is attached between the two poles with sticks along the side that mark the outside of the net. If you touch the poles with yourself or the ball or the ball goes outside of the poles, then you will most likely lose the point.
Other than that, you can pretty much play volleyball. The only other items needed are worn by the player and may include Volleyball Shoes, Knee protection, Ankle Supports and normally shorts and a shirt. Each of these is designed to help with making the process of playing volleyball much easier. Like any equipment, Volleyball Equipment has had a lot of research put into it to ensure it is high quality. Volleyball Shoes are designed so that they are extremely light weight, and very grippy on wooden surfaces. As a result, they tend to wear out rapidly when used on harder surfaces such as concrete and asphalt. To minimize the weight of the shoes, they don’t go above the ankles. This leaves a potential weak spot in the body, where you can injure yourself very easily.
To counter this, most professionals will wear ankle braces, which basically go over the heel and up over the ankle. These stop the ankle from rolling sideways, which in turn stops any potential damage. There is nothing worse than rolling an ankle in volleyball game, as it is painful and will most likely stop you from playing again for a while. Other Volleyball Equipment includes knee pads and shorts and shoes. Knee pads are very useful for most players who spend a lot of time diving and getting the ball. This is particularly more important for those who play defense in the sport, and as such you will often find the taller hitters not wearing knee pads. For those who play defense, diving onto the floor is a common occurrence, and having some protection on the knees minimizes the damage and pain that you can cause yourself. Wearing light, breathable equipment which is easy to move in makes playing Volleyball so much easier and more fun. It’s vital to wear the right Volleyball equipment, mainly from a safety perspective.
The Sport of Tennis
Still viewed as one of the more civilized sports today, with etiquette which should never be forgotten, or even besmirched, tennis is a king’s sport. With famous players like the Williams sisters and Rafael Nadal both boys and girls have players which they can look up to and admire. Of course, with Ms. William’s outburst at the umpire in New York City last summer, the girls may want to admire her skill and talent, but learn not to have such a sharp tongue when addressing someone who is judging your game. While tennis has its scandals, like any sport, it also has a great game which should be played and enjoyed to its full extent.
To play this game, one needs a net, which usually is waist high and tied to posts on either side of the court. If the ball is hit on this net during a serve, it can be redone, but only once. If it is hit in regular play, keep playing. The net’s purpose is to divide the sides so the players do not become confused. The court itself helps define the out of bounds area for the players, so be cautious of the white lines. If playing singles, the first line is the one to use. If you are playing doubles, use the second line. The base line, the one furthest away from the net is the one to serve from. If the player’s foot crosses over the line on the serve, it is called a foot fault and the player can reserve it. If this happens twice in a row, the other team gets a point.
The next thing a player needs is a racquet. This can be a very difficult choice because there are many racquets on the market today. The player needs to decide exactly what they want their racquet for. Are they playing singles or doubles? Are they playing on a men’s team, women’s or mixed? Is the court concrete, grass, or clay? All of these factors should be considered when selecting a racquet for the player. When using the racquet, there are techniques which can either hinder the other player, such as a slice or a cut, and techniques for survival, such as lobbing and slamming. Those are ways to hit the ball to score points or keep the other team from scoring.
The third thing a player needs is a ball. As with racquets, there are several different types of balls, so the player should know what type of court they are playing on. That will determine what kind of ball they need to buy. It is wise to have a few balls, 5 to 6 on hand because some players prefer the touch of a new ball to the touch of an old one.
To score a tennis game, there are usually 5 points which are Love, 0 points where everyone starts each game, 15, when the player’s first point is scored, 30, when the player’s second point is scored, 40, when the player’s third point is scored, and Game, when the game is won. There is also a point called Deuce, in which the players are tied and the game must be decided by a two point advantage. This can go back and forth for a while, but it usually ends with the best player winning.

The first thing that you need to think about as a beginning skier is whether you want to rent your equipment or purchase it. Most people recommend renting your ski equipment the first few times that you go out because you don’t know how well you will like it. If it turns out that you love snow skiing and you are a natural at it, then you can go buy some good ski equipment, but until then it wouldn’t be good investment.
Not only do you need to have the proper equipment you will also want to wear the proper clothes. When snow skiing you will want to wear some ski bibs, a ski jacket and gloves, the ski bibs and ski jacket need to go over your original layer of warm clothing, two pairs of socks are also good to cushion your feet and keep them warm. A ski mask can also come in handy, as do ski goggles.
Something else that you need to learn to do is sideslip your skis; this will even come in handy as an advanced skier. Learning how to sideslip your skis is important because it will allow you to get down steep grades without falling. You want to put your arms out in front of you, mainly for balance, and you are going to want to put all of your weight on the instep of your boot that is closest to the bottom of the hill. With your weight placed properly you are going to want to roll your feet and ankles down the hill, your skis should be sliding downhill, but still remaining perpendicular to the hill. When you want to stop all you have to do is dig the edge of your ski into the snow and shift your weight to the inside foot.
Another useful tip is learning how to control your speed and how to stop on the skis. The key to controlling how fast you are going is how far your skis are wedged apart, the bigger your wedge the slower you go, you will eventually stop if you make the wedge big enough. By keeping your skis parallel to each other, you will pick up speed the fastest, but you can always slow yourself down by using the wedge.

Baseball Rules
On any given weekend, one can travel to almost any local park and watch the neighborhood men and women engaged in an exciting game of basketball. This game is more important to those players, more important than the NBA championship because this game directly affects them, their pride, and their bragging rights for the next week. After the neighborhood basketball game, the players will return home to watch their favorite National Basketball Association (NBA) team on television. The two teams with the best record of wins will meet at the end of the season to play for the championship. This game, which fascinates and excited millions of fans around the world, would never have been possible, if Dr. James Naismith had not invented it over a century ago.
When Dr. Naismith began inventing basketball, it looked very different from the game that is played today. It had baskets, but they were wicker baskets without a hole in the center for the ball to drop out of and a back board to bounce a layup off of. So the object was to throw the ball into the basket without it bouncing back out of tipping the basket over. There were only 13 rules which governed the play, as opposed to today, where there is an entire book governing the play. The rules have changed greatly over the years, along with the way the game is played.
The first of the original rules seems to still be an active rule today. It stated that a player could throw the ball with either one or two hands in any direction. The second rule has become outdated in today’s games. It allowed players to bat the ball away but they could never use a closed fist to accomplish this. Today, players can block the ball but must be extremely careful when they do, or they will receive a foul. The third rule has also been done away with because it did not allow players to run with the ball. They had to stay in their spot, throw the ball to a teammate, and then they could move to another spot of the court and have the ball thrown to them again. The fourth and fifth rules are still in effect. The fourth rule mainly stated that the player had to hold the ball with his hands and nothing else. The fifth rule is the modern definition of what a foul is. No player was allowed to harm any other player by any means, which included no tripping, shouldering, striking, pushing, or holding the opponent.
The sixth rule is also in effect today, which does not allow the player to punch or hit the ball with their fist. This is considered a foul. Rule seven is no longer valid today because it awarded points to the other team if the opposing side had three consecutive fouls without the other team fouling. Fouls have changed to personal and team fouls. If a player receives 5 personal fouls, they are expelled from the game. Rules eight and nine have not changed with time because when the ball foes into the basket, it is still a goal and still earns points for the team. A ball which is thrown out of bounds can be thrown back into play. Rule ten has been replaced with Rule eleven as there are no umpires but several referees who keep track of the ball, players, and points. Rule twelve has changed from two 15 minute halves of playing to 4 quarters of play with a half time break in between quarters two and three. Rule 13 is still the same: the winner has scored the most goals.
Surfing Lessons: an Hour Well Spent
It’s perfectly acceptable and, actually, highly recommended to take a surfing lesson when you’re just picking up the sport. You might think surfing is logical and that you will have the natural ability to pick it up right away, but the reality is that surfing is a very awkward sport when you first start out and there are tons of little tips that you can acquire only from a surf instructing professional.
Surf lessons can be private or in groups and last for about an hour.
